LOS ANGELES, CA — Independent composer and sonic architects Nicholas Vitale and Maverick Del Carter announces the release of a new six-track collection, I Am The Sea. Moving away from quick-fix commercial formats, the EP serves as a deliberate, deep-listening tribute to the golden era of 1980s space music and environmental synth traditions—while recontextualizing those vintage sonic landscapes for today’s ecological landscape.
I Am The Sea bridges analog warmth, modern digital production, and atmospheric field dynamics. Drawing explicit inspiration from early synth pioneers like Constance Demby and David Parsons (specifically echoing the expansive, meditative textures of Parsons' seminal 1980 work Sounds of the Mothership), the release rejects condensed pop structures in favor of long-form, immersive arrangements designed to give the music room to breathe.
A Modern Call for Ocean & Forest Stewardship
Beyond its musical roots, I Am The Sea reframes environmental awareness for a new generation. At a time when terms like "ecology" and "sustainability" are often reduced to corporate buzzwords, the EP treats environmentalism as a lived experience—an active relationship of awe, reverence, and responsibility toward our oceans, coastlines, and old-growth forests.
"The goal wasn't to write standard ambient background tracks, but to build expansive soundscapes that demand presence," Vitale and Carter explain.
