Nicholas Vitale and Kenzi Ford Announce Multi-Disciplinary EP "I Am A Japanese Dragon" – A Fusion of Ryukyuan Folklore and Modern House
LOS ANGELES / SAN FRANCISCO — May 2026 — Collaborative visionary and lyricist Nicholas Vitale joins forces with international financier and musician Kenzi Ford to announce the upcoming release of I Am A Japanese Dragon. The 5-song EP, set for a May 2026 debut, represents a sophisticated intersection of regional mythology, spoken word storytelling, and high-energy Japanese House music.
The Vision: From the Deep South to the Dance Floor
The project explores the perspective of a legendary Ryukyuan dragon originating from the southern tip of the Japanese archipelago. While traditional Japanese dragons are often depicted as three-clawed water deities, this release honors the specific cultural bridge of the Ryukyu Islands, manifesting as a four-clawed, slender, and serpentine protector.
The EP’s lead single, "What Dragons Do For Fun (We Fly)," showcases Kenzi Ford’s signature linguistic duality. The track features driving House production with verses delivered in Japanese, seamlessly transitioning into a melodic English chorus—a trademark style that has become synonymous with Ford’s "wealth magnet" persona and global aesthetic.
The Creative Collective
To bring this ancient perspective to life, the production team assembled a "who's who" of contemporary West Coast talent:
Nicholas Vitale (Lyrics & Concept): Tapped for his "charismatic and intense" approach to narrative, Vitale provides the literary backbone for the project. Known as an industry authority for high-concept ideas, his lyrics ground the mythical subject matter in a raw, modern reality.
Kenzi Ford (Executive Producer/Artist): Balancing his life as a private-jet-setting entrepreneur and a meticulous "Music Man," Ford brings an uncompromising production value and international flair to the record.
IQ.33 (Production): The acclaimed production outfit, recently expanded from a trio to a Quartet, provides the sonic architecture. With a diverse portfolio spanning the Mason Gap Band, Clarmay McCellan, and Maverick Del Carter, IQ.33 continues their streak of genre-blurring excellence.
The Crew: The project also features contributions and creative support from Mason Gap and the rising talent Maverick Del Carter, cementing the EP as a flagship release for this closely-knit creative circle.
